Well I had some sort of premintion about this kind of thing happening. I got my boat which had not been run in about 3 years. I previously posted and followed the recomendations about the first start up. The boat started up beautifully. I idled it about 20 minutes and the oil presure was good and I could tell when the thermostat had opened. I then left the dock with the engine hatch open and noticed on the starboard manifold water was beading out of a very small crack, then I heard a squeal sound starting and I shut down right away. I got towed to the nearest ramp and as I was loading the boat onto the trailer the automatic bilge came on and shot out a bunch of water. When the boat was running I was very carefully looking for water coming from the engine and there was none except for the very slow drip from the manifold. I looked at the bellows under the outdrive on the trailer and they were in very poor condition. I removed the plugs and belts and I could not crank the engine by hand with a socket. Whats my next step? 5.7L Mercruiser serial #OC871242. Thanks in advance guys.

Depending on your mechanical and technical ability with engines and mercruiser engines/drives, your first step may be to take it to someone who is.
I would say next step before taking the drive off would be to pull spark plugs and see if engine turns over (don't start it) via the starter. If it does then the motor isn't siezed which is good. If starter just clicks (assuming the starter is good) then pull the drive- if engine then turns over your drive has siezed if not then the engine has problems, and go from there.
Also watch the engine when you crank it, with the spark plugs out, for water to shoot out the spark plug holes of any cylinder, get a couple people to watch. Also ground your coil lead wire when doing this. Ever check the oil in the outdrive?
good luck.
