Less than impressed with new forum. Just my opinion.

I have to say, that while I have been on this for some years this iteration of the forum is not my favorite.
I find it cumbersome and clunky to use. Nothing seems to be where it should be or easily accessible.
I evidently made a new post with nothing in it, when I was not even trying to make a post. And I see that there are other empty posts on the forum.
Change is not always a good thing, but it is good to recognize a bad one and replace it or revert back to what worked.

These are my opinions alone, unless others feel the same.

This has been discussed at great length in the website issues section, including several explanations of why it can't be put back to the old version, there are a lot of people working on the issues that have been identified and it is getting better every day, at least it is usable now, it was not before and the IT are working hard to get it to a happy place again, but like I said, it has been discussed 6 ways from Sunday.

I guess it's like just being a little bit pregnant! There's no going back
I would agree with you completely, but I don't want some people here to get bent out of shape about it, so lets keep it a secret okay :nono:
After all, it's only been a little over 2 WEEKS now!
I've noticed each time I log on, there's a new bizarre issue, and not a fix in place of the others, but added to the rest  It's like I'm jumping through more new hoops then before, just to navigate this forum. I'm an old school "non-techie" consumer. So, it throws me for a loop!

Bent out of shape? Now that is funny, all I can say, is there seems to be quite a few new posts happening every single day now, I have not receive any errors today, have been able to upload a picture, quote and respond to messages, your mileage may vary, but for the most part today has been pretty smooth sailing for me, and by the number of posts happening, it seems to be getting better for quite a few others as well. All I do know for a fact, that repeating things over and over is not going to get it working 100% any faster, I would be more than happy to have anyone drop by and watch me working on issues with this software on my own servers, it really does give you a different perspective on why this is taking a while. In the mean time, IT guys, keep it up, you are getting there.

What new bizarre issues have you seen? My observation is everyday more and more is working. Granted the fixes are coming slowly, but things are getting better.

Let me give an example - When posting a reply and the "working" box shows up, in most cases it disappears much faster than it use to. Also after the "Working" goes away, more than half the time my page refreshes with my reply. It used to give the data base error 100% of the time. So those are two things that are better, not perfect, but better.

The forum is in a state that I can do everything I did before the VB version change. Not always as fast, not always as easily, not always as unthinking - But I can do what I want to do!

Overall, things are improving. It's tough to notice some of the improvements and it is still kinda' clunky to work with. There are some missing features and some rather "non-intuitive" processes, and that can be a little frustrating. But as was said above -- that horse has been beaten to death. iBoats has/had reasons for making a change, and in the end that change is to improve their business, not damage it, so we'll get somewhere better.

Then the IT guys will all head to Aruba for a month ;) Hang in y'all.

Has anyone even noticed that we're not getting anymore "rendered" errors....... That's a huge step forward in itself. Admin/IT are aware of all the issues. They are trying to fix them as fast as they can, vBulletin is involved in this process too. We have no control how fast they fix their end.....

Yup Wim, I noticed it, and with the success in posting messages today, I am sure many others have as well

I get a render error once or twice a day (one about an hour ago) and that is a quantum improvement. I do a back in my browser and then forward and get the page. Before, the error took a long time to clear. Much better now. Yesterday I made some posts from a tablet for testing - A first since the new version. The tunnel is long, but I see the light. That is the end of the tunnel, isn't it?

:couch2:<--- The staff at work. Ooops, I meant :ranger:.

Just makes a guy wonder if like perhaps a online banking site for example had done something similar to this here upgrade/date and for weeks used a mantra of pointing fingers at the other guy, how exactly would that work with their clients?..........hmmmm. Sometimes if it smells like a dead fish, it usually is!!

Except for the fact, you pay the bank, by depositing money or borrowing money, nobody on this forum is paying anyone to participate in this forum, also you should have been around for the last upgrade Chase as well as GE Money bank went through, it was a real mess! if you are actually paying for something, then it becomes a different game, Iboats sells stuff, lots of stuff, but they don't require any of us to buy something to participate.

I have been the recipient of the same improved functionality twice today. :)

The updated Topic notification was for my own Duracraft Topic, and not once, but TWICE I got an email notice that included the details about who made the post, when they posted it, and WHAT they posted. That's a huge improvement over the hundreds of empty/blank notices I have been getting every day for the last week or 2. BIG IMPROVEMENT! Thanks!!

Of course the other 40 notices I got today were still blank, but I'll take 2 in 40 over 0 in 200 any day ;) Thanks

EDIT: Also noteworthy is that this is the 3rd post I've made today that submitted & loaded w/ NO ERROR message. The working icon was active a tad longer then quick, but it didn't really seem to lag much, so I'll mark that a WIN as well.... Thanks again IT team, your efforts are producing results, and are greatly appreciated by many! And should be by all....

:D

Maybe it's me? But I use a fairly new HP windows 7 laptop, with IE 11 on it, and haven't noticed any issues on the dozen or so websites I go to, by the way a few have done upgrades to new servors in less then a wknd, with no hickups like this.
Today I log on to iboats, and get an annoying new window just above my tray asking me if I want to "see secure content"? I ignore it and it follows me on every page, until I click on it hoping it would just go away, but no the next page it's there again! I ignore it again. Next, I click on latest activity, which has so many duplicate posts page, after page, I don't know why? Or which one to click on? Finally I pick one, read, and go to post a reply, I click on reply, and wait (as the small "working" window sits there? anywhere from 2-3mins I get an error message, so I go to the address bar, & click refresh, then the page freezes there for what seems like an eternity, and I get tired of it, and click back never knowing if the reply posted. Then I have to search to find it!

Next, is the clunky way the "latest activity" works, after reading the posts, I have to go to the top of the page to click on the page number I want, andwith all the duplicate posts, all I'm doing is clicking, go to top of page, click again, like a freakin typewriter! Man this is so much better then before the changeover,,,NOT!

Plus my notifications are scrambled, some are blank, and don't seem to make any sense to me? They don't even seem like my subscriptions? Plus, their not all there?

Yes, this is all still there, nothing has changed much, if any for me since the upgrade!

Think ya missed my point......the service/products and support is not free to iboats eh? And the gain of iboats is I'm sure purely profitless? And mess or not, ya pull up anchor at some point.......just say'n.Your support of the situation/s at hand is duly noted and commendable....

Missed the point....iboats!! But that tends to happen w you. Just an observation/opinion.
No, you actually missed mine. They are making progress and it's not iboats' fault.

iboats isn't making you stay.

99.9% of the members are taking this all in stride. 0.1% are complaining about this great site. Why is that?

wonder if the IT guys could change the box that shows up as "working" .....to "kinda working"?
