length of hose on fuel tank?

Just wondering how long a fuel hose can put on my gas tank, and still fuction properly? I would like to make my own hose (extra long) so I can move the gas can forward to help balance the load better. Ideally in the bow section. It would help especially if I'm boating alone.

I use a bulb type hose. Can fuel be drawn from 15 feet away?
I have seen fuel hose assemblies sold in 8 foot lengths.

thanks,

jasper

Fifteen foot wouldn't bother anything. Twenty foot wouldn't bother anything. Just don't have any fuel/air leaks anywhere in the fuel system.

Great. The fuel line will be protected from foot traffic or other hazards. Thanks Joe.

If your making your own I would suggest you put the squeeze bulb close to the motor end of the hose. I have a tank set up this way and it is much handier to have it close to the engine. My other tank has it right at the tank. The line is every bit of fifteen feet and hasn't caused any problems. Rick.

I had a 19.5' sailboat and had the tank in the cuddy under the bow with a very long line to my 8hp auxillary and it worked fine...

yep, I plan to make my own fuel line.
I have a covered bow and I want my tank underneath. I can run my gas line through a cable trough to keep it out of harms way. The bulb will be near the motor for convenience. I think it will turn out great. Thanks for the info.
