Leftover parts....

Was replacing the ignition switch in my 73 Evinrude control box, and a ball bearing came out. I don't know where it came from. Also there was a spring on the inside that was pretty messed up. I put the box back together without the spring nor the ball bearing, and it seems to work okay... Are these parts going to cause me trouble since they are not in the box? What do they do?

Thanks

Inside that c/box, you'll notice a small stainless steel plate which resembles a "T" (sort of) which is secured by one screw. The spring and ball would be installed under that plate, and it must be there as it is a detent that keeps the control in whatever position it is put in.

Ahh..excellent! Will need a replacement spring but at least I know where it goes now!

That box was a pain to put back together..couldn't get the throttle set right.
