Left hand drive or right ?

Whats the advantages/disadvantages of both. I have a volvo 280 drive (early 80's model) with a right drive prop (needs replaced). I see left hand props for this drive as well. Apparently the drive rotation can be changed by some linkage in the outdrive. So what set up is generaly best ? Currently running a standard rt hand 15 1/2 x 19 aluminum prop. Thanks for the help !

If your helm is on the right side of the boat, you want the right hand prop because the torque of the prop and the way it spins will cause the boat to rotate in the opposite direction.

Also, what Tommays said is correct. Why would you want to change what you have?

very limited about of left props

Somehow I thing Tom meant to say a "Very limited AMOUNT of left props"
They can be very hard to find in many places, RH is how the props go for 95% of the drives out there. THe LH props are normally reserved for twin engines so you can have counter rotating props. Volvo used them on some just to make it profitable to make LH props.

Why don't you ask around in the prop forum???? Maybe they can help you find what you want.
