outdrive had a slight vibration that got worse (and noisier) when the drive was turned. read some post where the culprit could be bad u-joints. pulled my drive shaft. u-joints felt fine with no play or free movement. could they be bad? pulled them anyway. found 'ripples' on the hardened ends of the crossovers on both joints. thanks to all you experienced guys for the advice.

so have you ran it yet?
Vibration gone?

I replaced u-joints at the start of the season hoping to reduce/eliminate an irritating vibration -- got no improvement.

I had a similar issue and found no problems with U-Joints or Gimbal bearing. Checked engine alignment which seemed off. Ended up raising the engine a bit and this seems to have corrected problem. However I did bellows as they were orginal and boat is '97.
