leaky pipes

i recently brought a 2 stroke 8 hrse nissan from the 80's out of storage. It was not spitting water, so i replaced the water pump, now less than half the water that should be coming out of the hole is comign out. the rest is shooting out by the gear case, kinda by the impeller. What could be the problem?

Bad seal at the top or bottom of the water tube, cracked block, cracked waterpump housing, cracked lower pump case or the most obvious...the lower part of the tube is not in the waterpump correctly.
