This is more of a confirmation than a question. We have a 1977 115 Evinrude. We replaced the fuel pump and rebuilt the carbs last weekend, (thanks to this forum), now it starts right up. We have run it on muffs a couple of times and there is a thick black sludge coming out of the prop shaft and the lower unit. I am assuming it is carbon. Could changing the fuel pump and rebuilding the carbs have started this and should we just take it out and run the hell out of it or decarb it or not worry ;) ? Thanks alot!

Re: Leaking sludge

normal stuff, don't worry about it. I would however do a decarb on a 77 motor just for gp.
