Anyone ever heard of or used chassis grease for sealing the bead to rim interface on a tubeless tire? I was at a tire store yesterday and the guy wirebrushed the rim then greased it up real good where the tire seats, installed the tire and washed it off.

Seems like it would seal OK, my problem is that I thought grease attacked rubber and would rot it. Course rubber boots on grease joints (auto ball joints for one) last for a lotta years.

I would have thought they would have used "Green Slime" or a similar product to improve the sealing surfaces.

Well,........
There's a Tire Grease/ Sealing compound that's used at most Quality Tire Shops......
Plain ole Grease would Also probably Work....... Most tires don't last Long enough for the Grease to become a Problem......
And,......
All Tire Shops Hate the Slime,..... It makes Repairs nearly Impossible........

I have used dish soap before, but I am not necessarily sure that was the recommended way;)

I had a hand-truck with tubeless tires that would leak down around the rim. I never use it enough to where I would air it up frequently so every time I went to use it I had to reseat the tires. I finally put some silicone lube (like what you would use on 0-rings) around the bead and they have held air for months now.
