Anyways I just bought a 18ft. Mercruiser I/O 350 engine, and took it out to the lake yesterday. Everything was works perfectly except for the speedometer. Anyways after a good 2 hour boating around the lake we then dock the boat back on the trailer.
I notice the stern wouldn't raise back up.? We manage to pull the stern all the way up and tie it down with ropes and bungie core.

Re: Leaking Hydraulic Fluid....???

Well after a quick look on what was causing it, I notice it was leaking from either the Hydraulic system or something. It's that black thing behind the very back seat facing the passenger side. It's leaking right in the middle everytime I push on the trim panel to try to raise the stern up...

Anyways what do you guys think might of happen? What fluid do I use?

Thanks

Its a trim pump :)

You will need to repiar the leak As the boat will not perform that well without it working

They have used all kinds of oil over the years mine uses ST30 wt motor oil

i thought it was some kind of automatic transmission fluid or Hydraulic fluid, sense the fluid was light white with a pinkish tint....

I've used power steering fluid too. Walmart sells Trim lube too...Just get that leak fixed first. I'd buy a service manual that tells you how to service the pump.

That light white sound like water mixed with the trim fluid :(

Exactly what I was thinking... Powersteering fluid. Yeah I'll have to take out the seat and see if I can get that leak fix. By the way, are the seats welded onto the boat? or are they bolted onto the boat.?? I mean, I haven't really try to take it off, but the seat just won't budge at all.

Could be as simple as the fill plug vibrated loose.or just a bad gasket..
The seats should come out.I never heard of seats being welded in..
Use ATF...it works fine.
