Hi all,

Need help with a fuel leaking carb. Data follows:

-1983 Rude-90 hp.
-Mod. # E90TLCTE
-Serial# J0271717 (Johnson Plant??)

Carb. Plate #'s. 393172, 90, 19EH

The problem is that the lower carb. continues to leak from the bottom (fuel inlet) fitting which is plastic.

I HAVE NOT contacted Gary of Gary's Marine lookng for a new float bowl, simply because these carb's are so clean, I do not want to buy an entire carb. set to fix this problem. Plus, I do not want to buy different carbs with the same problem.

Here are my ideas:

1. Is there any type of "mystery" sealant out there that will seal from the outside?

2. Drill out the plastic/brass fitting and find a new fitting that will take its place. This would require a tapping for new threads. I thought, as long as I kept the inside diameter of the fuel inlet the same, there should be no problem with fuel flow.

I DO NOT want to do this, but??

I'm putting together this older boat/engine package and want everything perfect-for the new owner.

By the way, I finally got around to putting in the new stats. and ran it again today. Runs great, got heat on both banks and it runs much better.

Thanks all, for all your help.
