Leaf Spring Installation Direction???? (W/Pic)

Which is the front and rear direction for installing these leaf springs? Or does it really matter? I installed my new leaf springs with the little spring shackle towards the front.

That seems right to me,probably makes no difference though. Seems to me that most springs have the clamps at both front and rear.

I would put the spring keeper towards the front. My reasoning is if there are brakes on the axle, it *may* make a difference.

I just finished yesterday installing a new axle on a DIY pontoon trailer and I was told by the manufacture (bought direct) that the ends with the strap face to the front.

Now I just have to do a bunch of touchs ups. Wrenches and fresh paint do not like each other.

Maybe for "once" I made a lucky guess and installed them going forward of the axle. Thanks guys!
