I HAVE 1970 60 HP JOHNSON. DO I NEED TO PUT LEAD ADDITIVEIN THE TANK. I KNOW THAT BACK IN THOSE DAYS LEAD WAS IN THE GAS UNLIKE TO TODAY. I AM 21 JUST A LITTLE BEFORE MY TIME

Lead's not necessary in a 2 stroke, never was needed.

No need for lead addative.<br />Motor will run fine on unleaded. 2-Stroke, no valves.<br /><br />Others on this sight can offer more specifics but I think will generally agree. No lead, No problem.<br /><br />Good Luck<br />HAVE FUN!

The lead was used as a lube for the valves in the older auto engines. Bach in those days, 100K on an engine was rare. We have come a long way since then.

No-lead is no problem, but a word of caution. I'm not personally familiar with what octane OMC spec'd for this motor, but you want to be sure to use the correct octane rating fuel, which IS important. your local OMC (Bomby) shop, &/or your owners/service manuals should have information on minimum octane required.
