Lazy Wife.Need help with remote starter.

G,day,Can anyone tell me where to hook remote starter while I check timing at cranking speed.
Also do I need ignition key on or off?
88 V6 135HP.

Ignition key needs to be on. You may use a simple clip lead to jumper from red cable on starter solenoid to yellow (or yellow/red) wire on starter solenoid. I recommend you remove spark plugs 2-6 and install them into their wires, tape them together and ground them to the block. This allows max timing adjustment w/o running motor.

You may want to disconnect idle stabilizer, if you have one.

I use a 8' pole with a notch in it.. it reaches my key and i can do what i gotta do.

It is however a bit of a rig job so.. id follow Chris's advice :)
