Re: lawnmower-on-a-stick

There were a number of chainsaws using Techumseh (Power Products) engines. I used to work on a lot of them. Unfortunatly, that was then and now is now and I'd be hard pressed to name them. Lancaster comes to mind.

I had a hand me down Lawn Boy 2-stroke lawnmower forever.

A funky as it was, it was dead reliable.

I used mainly Power Products power heads from David Bradley chainsaws as the base for my kart racing engines from '58 to '61, Mrcrabs.

The engines I used were the AH47 crossflow, AH 61 looper and AH82 looper.

I have seen each used on cheap outboards, mostly by Eska but some others I don't remember.

Hey JB, I had a Clinton Chainsaw engine on my racing kart. Wanna take me on? Nah, somebody stole mine.

That was 50 years ago, F R!!

I did win a national class A-super championship with the AH-47 based engine. My kart weighed 42 lb wet, I weighed 135 lb. Heck of a power to weight ratio.:p

Thanks for the info JB, I had a David Bradley chainsaw ,maybe 30 some years ago. I remember it had lots of power and always started and would make wood all day, lots of torque, you just couldn't fell a tree with it because it wouldn't run on its side. It seemed to be an amazing machine at the time.
