Hello out there, I am going to spend the weekend on the Mississippi and would like to know if there is anyone out there that can tell me where I can launch and leave my truck and trailer for two to three days. Anywhere within a couple of miles one way or another is fine.

Thanks in advance.

Hey pointer, Im sorry to say that I just moved from La Crosse some months ago or you could of used my driveway to park, but let me suggest a few places to fish. There is a couple ramps in La Crosse on the Black river. Head up river and fish from the Onalaska spillway down. Another option is to put in at one of the Mn. ramps and fish the Dresbac Dam and the wing dams. Good luck and please give us a full fishing report :)

Wow this is one thing I can Reply to and actualy sound intelligent. First I assume you are coming from Janesville so youll be coming in off of I-90. Youll get off the interstate at exit number three. It is hwy 35. Youll see the black river on your right hand side as you go south on 35. You Should go through the first stop light and you will also go through the second one. Just past the second stop light you will see a perkins on your right hand side and after that you will see a kwik trip on your right. Great place to get gas. Kwik trip is allowed to sell under what they pay for gas as to compete with Minnesota Prices. Usualy about 5-10 cents cheaper per gallon. Anyways after that kwik trip at the stop light take a right. You will go over a bridgeand on the left hand side you will see a boat landing. With tons of parking Lots of people leave their rigs there for a week plus. Theres a bathroom with running water there and a medium grade cemente ramp. Ive personally seen boats 35'+ launch there with no problems. Around the ramp untill the rail road swing bridge it is no wake. Under that bridge you have about 10-15 feet of clearence. If your boats is near that height You might have to have them open the swing bridge. But they require a 2 hour notice I can do some digging later if you need me too. After the bridge you are good to go But there is a speed limit of 60 mph on this river. If you have any questions please ask them on here as i check it a few times per day.

Ps: If you need bait There is a good mom and pop bait shop about 1/4 mile down from the boat landing instead of going left into the landing keep going straight and it will be on your left accross from another kwik trip

skiuseme,

Fantastic post, perfect information for a slacker like myself. Bringing the girl and the dog on this one so we are going up to the cities for one night and camp on an island for another night. Just need a little water time for the soul. Three days should get me at least a little shot in the arm to get my focus back on that which is important-BOATS!

Thanks again for the great information!!!! Little things like this can add stress to a trip designed to eliminate stress....

Re: Launching in LaCrosse WI

Are not those wing dams a treat? Is the water level up based on the recent rains and if so are the wake indicators different?

Made this trip last year but started in Prairie du Chein and used my 17.5ft Larson with my Bro. Probably going to stay on the Island just north of Wabasha before Lake Pepin on the way home and cuz I will be using the cabin cruiser, no need to pitch a tent this year. I know there are no snake issues there and it is a common anchorage for transient boaters. Made a bunch of new friends there last year. Starting to get psyched as I figured that I would do this monday morning.

A good plan today is better than a great plan tommorrow. :)
