We couldn't believe it... At blue marsh lake near reading PA. about a month ago we anchored near the most popular launch ramp and saw an old Sea Ray at the dock just sitting there.. We watched and the guys just sat there for 45min. taking up valuable space for those wanting to launch their boats.. It was a weekend and this put in gets crowded fast... Finally a woman came up to them and asked how long they planned on staying at the dock and their response was "why do you want to know?".. She politely said that they were trying to launch their boat and needed the space so others could launch while they parked their trailer. etc. etc.... The guys in the sea ray begrudgingly backed away from the dock and sped away in a no wake zone.. 10min. later the sea ray returned and pulled up next to the dock and did the exact same thing!.. They just sat there! no-one got off, no-one got on and they were not taking out.. I really believe they were INTENTIONALLY clogging up the launch area to **** people off..... Rudest behavior I have seen on that lake (any lake)

That's the time you wish you had a big, crummy old boat on a rusty trailer.. Just start backing in there and I bet those guys would have moved....

If that was the Sheidy? Ramp, I know it well. I'm a rookie boater, but I've learned a lot sitting in line waiting there. Usually I learn what to do to P!$$ people off. First time I went there I saw people up on the bank with lawn chairs watching the events at the ramp. Free Admission Too!

Was thinking the EXACT same thing! :D although I was thinking scuba gear...that way you can dive/surface out of site.

Re: Launch ramp hog enrages people waiting

Last night on Lake Lewisville at the Hidden Cove Marina there were 2 boats in a 3 lane ramp. One boat took over an hour to get off the water and in the third slot it took that person over an hour to get in the water. And they wouldn't take any help. Kind of pisses ya off, especially when they won't take any help. We were all new to boating at one or another, still kind of new to me. We can launch and load each time less then 5 minutes each. Gilligan (wifey) is getting real good with the trailer so it has gotten so much easier.

Anyways just ranting......... Still had a blast on the water. Lots of police out last night and they were busy, but never stopped me. :D

We had someone blocking one of the two lanes at our very busy ramp yesterday. After all the work to finally get me to the dock (that?s another story involving people swimming and jet skis), I politely asked them if they could move their boat and open the ramp. They responded by ?use the other lane?.

Funny thing was when I back the trailer down they moved really fast. It might have something to do with the fact that I back it down directly in front of them.

Re: Launch ramp hog enrages people waiting

I cannot fathom how it could take someone an hour to launch or retrieve a boat, unless they were doing mechanical repairs on the ramp or an OCD cleaning job.
Seems like some youngsters looking for summer money could run a ramp valet service where they launch or retrieve the boat, as well as park or go get your vehicle. Or even just wait in line for you. They would make a lot of money from someone like me paying them to launch some slow dimwit ahead of me!
In fact, maybe the ramps should provide the service--maybe even require it like how crowded public golf courses require you to use a cart. But then you have to have the tax dollars or put in ramp fees, and I think the liability insurance would be steep.

Were they driving a Honda?

The idea of a snorkel and mask was exactly my first thought. I keep them on the boat. Now I need to keep the plug wrench on the boat along with an old raggedy dock line for the prop.

They're just getting started.

Be sure to take a prop wrench with you. You would'nt want that nice prop to hit the ramp when the bilge fills with water:rolleyes: Besides, it might just fit your boat.:)

Really though, isn't there some rangers or cpo's around? I would tolerate that for all of about as long as it took me to walk over there!

I don't think that Honda could make it to PA.

But what do I know; I didn't buy a tow vehicle that is submersible.
