Wooden boats leak like crazy when you first put them in the water. Wood takes a while to swell up and seal all the cracks.

I think Ted said he had pumps going for a week even after he had the sprinklers on the boat wetting it for a week before launch.

many times, the marina will hang wooden boats from the travelift with the pumps going until the wood swells.

My last boat was a woody and though it was 1/2 the size of that one mine was coated with glass and epoxy resin up to the spray rails and of course never leaked a drop in all the years I had it.She sank pretty fast so maybe a fitting was left loose or off.

It looks like everyone involved did what they were trained to do and did it well. That is except the boat owner. I am guilty of sinking my boat to the back seats. Someone sabotaged it. Stole the plug and put it in a splash well drain. Lost that one in the drink but always have a second plug just in case, and it was that case. A plus is I know the fuel tank doesn't leak.

Ooops.!

I sunk my 14 footer a few years ago, forgot a plug and backed down and it just kept going...
