Sloopy, you asked in a different area whether I saw the last LV race, and yes I did. Thought I would move this here.

Yet another penalty by Oracle. Too bad. In the prestart. Another foolish error. They looked so under control against One World, and the wheels just came off against Russel Coutts. They tried to get Alinghi to mix it up at the end and hopefully draw a penalty, which was their only hope, but Russel Coutts is too smart for that.

While I wanted an American boat to win, I don't think anyone can say that the best boat and crew did not win the LV cup. I just hope they can beat the Kiwis so the cup can move somewhere other than down under. It has been there too long now!!

John

Re: Last LV race

Ellison doesn't like to lose. He says he will be back in the next cup, and that's good. he has the money.

OneWorld said they will not be back if the cup is back in New Zealand. Something about threats from locals toward Kiwi's that have switched loyalties to other countries.

One of Oracle's problems, aside from a simple lack of boat speed compared to Aligni, was that it simply was not quick enough in jibes and tacks, and would lose ground every time they got into any kind of tacking duel.

But Oracle did give them a pretty good challenge. Two penalties really cost them 2 races, penalties they could have and should have avoided, and neither penalty really gave them any sort of advantage
