We'll be having our family reunion in Las Vegas, New Mexico this summer and was wondering what kinds of things there are to do there. I know it has museums of the Old West and such and the Santa Fe Trail runs through there. But what the heck is there to do?<br />Bassy

hmmmm.. count rocks and horned toads?? <br /><br />There has to be a casino around there <br /><br />ditch the party after a few hours and drive up to the Enchanted Circle<br /><br />.. some cool art studios/shops in Sante Fe and up in Taos.. ??<br /><br />Sorry Bassy can't really help ya .. Thanks Barlow. I didn't have that link. Its very helpful. Walking tours sound interesting, but man its going to be hot. Roughriders museum is already a planned thing to do. Mr. Bassy is a big "OldWest" fan and I love anything that has to do with US history.<br /> Thanks again.<br />Bassy

N/P Bassy .. been in the area a bunch of times but not East of Sante Fe in that area.. 'Old West' is what to expect - what the area is all about.<br /><br />Sante Fe is worth the drive west .. as is Toas area.<br /><br />A bunch of good wineries in the area too if you like that kinda thing.

Hi Bassy<br />Lived in Santa Fe for 5 years. Las Vegas ("the meadows" in Spanish) is a two horse town with a rundown downtown area, a regional college, and some international institute. Eat in town at the Mexican restaurant, good cheap, where locals go. <br />Go to Santa Fe, do Canyon Rd (two hour walk). Eat at Geranimo's (medium high priced-best food, reservations). In town do art , tourist stuff, eat lunch at La Fonda Hotel-super food, medium cost, no reservations. Very, very busy at Indian Festival in August. Do Art Museum, super, Georgia O Keefe museum ok but not as good.<br />Do Taos, go north from Las Vegas, over mountain. Do town, And visit pueblo.Visit Blumenschein house(artist, old adoby house).<br /> Albuquerque;Old Town (architecture, shops,art, free art museum, Museum of natural history-have your picture taken with big dinosaurs).<br />Take sunblock, visit pictographs in city parh, West Albuquerque, buy large hats for everybody.
