This is a motor that sat a long time in storage. I removed and cleaned the carbs and set the float by eyeball, but I did not know about this forum and probably did not get the float right. That first time I removed the starter motor to get to that pesky right side carb mount screw. Was that necessary, or is there an easier way.

I took advice given to me earier on this forum and ordered the service manual and owner's manual. Read them last evening. So; to answer my own question, the service manual says remove the alternatoer and starter. I have no alternatoer. So I guess its just a bit of expected bother to get in there.

See how the manual ansewers most questions. Don't be afraid to ask questions if you don't understand what the manual is telling you. There are a lot of great people on here that can ansewer any question you have.
