You might like Possum Kingdom. Often crowded, like Grapevine and Lewisville on weekends.

Haven't been to Bridgeport, but heard it is nice also. . . .for noisy sports that annoy fishermen.

Not gonna tell you about my favorites, because they are still fishing lakes.

Might try Lake Texoma, it is big and seems to have somthing for everybody and big enough to find a reasonably quiet spot

Growing up in North Tx I can tell you Good Luck most of the time it is crowded and windy unless its 100 degrees outside. The brazos river down near Whitney is a good spot there is never any wind. The water is blocked by high cliffs for the most part. I can tell you that on a windy day that Grapvine lake is the best because the high dam blocks much more wind than most of the other lakes.

burkhart,

You could try Richland Chambers in Corsicana, it is about an 1 hour south on I-45 from Dallas. I've been going there for years to get away from the "Lewisville" type crowd. Even this past memorial day weekend it was nice to get out there. I will probably spend at least a day this 4'th of July weekend there. Great sandbass and hybrid striper fishing going on right now.

Robert

You could also try Ray Roberts. The dam keeps the south end pretty calm and there are not near as many people as on Lewisville.

I live in Oklahoma and we go to lake Murray often. It is in southern OK...

I'm sure there are great lakes in N. Texas too, but this is the best close one to you that I know of.
