Put in at Stateline Friday morning at 8:35. Traveled all the way to Halls Crossing and back to Stateline at 5:20. Beautiful day on the water. More than 190 miles on GPS. Used about 80 gallons of fuel, 3500 RPM & 37 MPH cruising. Saw a fighter jet over the Rincon, so cool. Beautiful lake, I'm kind of partial to the SW end of the lake.

Stopped to tow someone near the end of the Journey by Antelope (out of gas) . Towing a boat is really hard on my boat, 10 mph max. Felt like I was going to break something. Luckily a short tow.

What's that plotted in? That's kind of cool.

Very cool rockly. Too bad you had to end it with a tow job, but luckily for them you had the fuel to get them back. I love those long rides.

This is Garmin's Mapsource software. My boat GPS is a GPSMAP 76csx.

My next longest ride was a couple years ago on Mead. 110 miles give or take. Echo to the Dam to Temple Bar and back to Echo

Hi rocky -

Thats awesome. Sure brings back fond memories. Couple decades back three of us did Wahweap past Dangaling Rope on to Bullfrog and back in a SeaSwirl open bow. Early mornings we fished the coves and they were like glass, it was like looking in a mirror. How far is the water now from Rainbow bridge? Were you able to camp in cove shores anywhere you wanted? I heard you can only do that now if the cove has porta-jons. Post some pics!

Wow -- that's a long trip in a day!

My son and I took my 15' inflatable there in April and we spent 3 nights/4 days getting to Rainbow Bridge and back (though we did a lot of exploring, diving, fishing, hiking etc. along the way).

There's no requirement to camp near a floating toilet as far as I know (and I hope that doesn't change). The NPS just requires that you have a portapotty or sanitary waste bag, which seems reasonable.

It's a beautiful place and I can't wait to go back.

Came across the above pictures from a 1976 Lake Powell Cruise with the Power Squadron. We went several years in a row. When we started the Dam had just been completed and we watched the lake come up progressively, year after year. I recall one side canyon, the 1st year we went under a natural arch. The next year the arch blocked the way. After that we went over the arch.
Any one interested in going for a week let me know. We stopped there on a driving trip in 2010. Took a 1/2 day boat ride to Rainbow Bridge. Was OK but not the same as a leisurely trip on your own boat.

Ahh, Lake Powell is my favorite place to boat. I'll be making my fourth trip of season down there in two days! Seems like it has something for everyone.
