Re: Lake of the day Monday

SnR, you just hit on my second favorite spot to camp. The water is brackish but good fishing. Its a fairly shallow lake and gets coastal weather. I was caught putting up the tent when 70 mph winds came through in a thunderstorm once. Glad nobody had their video camera.

The wildlife is abundant there and they do have sites you can pull your boat up to. I have to warn however, the lake is full of aligators. Was water skiing once and after a fall waiting for the boat to swing back by, there was a 12 foot gator in the water fast approching. I don't ski there anymore. We always reserved sites on the water because of the boat and at night we took our seal beam light shined it across the cove and saw nothing but red eyes. One morning while walking to the restrooms, we watched a gator circle a small dome tent right next to our site while the guy slept peacefully. I also had an encounter with a coral snake. Nonetheless, I always enjoyed camping there and and enjoyed the nature trails, can't wait to go back. :)
