Lake Mead in August

We took a trip to Boulder City last month and drove by Lake Mead (for the first time) and loved the layout.

So we're planning a trip there late August.

I like August there as the wind is usually reasonable and the water temp is at it's highest. Look for 85 degree water and some glassy conditions. Beware of monster Thunderstorms though, they copme out of nowhere and can happen almost any time of the year.

We had a blast there for 5 days. Great weather, great water, nice coves. Found some cliffs to jump off of.

Was a good time. Water was about 89.

Castle Cove was the best by far.

Yeah, I hang out there some, but we are usually a lot farther from Lake Mead Marina and I can't get anyone to duck in there on the back in the afternoon. Sunset, with the late light on the Castle, is awesome.

How far up lake towards the Narrows did you go? My personal favorite is Wishing Well. A lot of Boaters hang out in the front, but there is a little slot canyon in the very back that is as close to Powell as Mead gets.
