I am new to this site and thought it would be nice to start an ongoing thread with the purpose of staying on top of the fish in the western basin of Lake Erie. The ODNR site's fishing reports are usually outdated and behind the fish. I like to get out on the Lake once a week, and if the fishing reports six days old it isn't much help. In this thread I am looking for general locations (no gps coordinates) and fishing reports from members out on the Lake. Since I opened this thread I'll begin. Tuesday July 10 three of us each caught our limit of walleye around "C" can. We drifted using bottom bouncers, flipping sticks, and erie dearies. Good Luck Fishing!

Re: Lake Erie's Western Basin

Spent a day last week around Kellys Island. Limited out in three hours with three friends. Even came back with some nice perch filets.

If anyone knows where "the wheel" is on the lake could you please fill me in. I continue to see this location on fishing reports and am not sure were it is located. Thanks

Re: Lake Erie's Western Basin

I have fished the western basin many times but only from head boats. I have been thinking about fishing out of Ashtabula with my boat before the end of summer since its much closer to home. Any suggestions where to go for walleye or perch there?
