Lake Erie Steelhead fishing

Does any have any experience fishing for steelhead on the North shore of Erie, Wheatly to Erieau, Ontario. If you do would please tell me about it I would like to try for them , by boat next summer, or spring or fall. I know nothing. Thanks bill Mc :D

Here's a picture of a bow caught off of Erieau on Sept. 4th of this year.

It's not a spot for small boats as the lake can blow up quickly.
Downriggers, dipsy divers & leadcore line are the most common ways of getting your bait deep enough.
You should find this Ontario site quite useful.

Especially the ones with cut out transoms like the one in the picture.

All of the meat fisherman usually congregate in Ohio, PA, or Ontario. You should concentrate on one of those three areas.;) Stay out of N.Y and it's tributaries, the fishing is terrible:cool:

The best lure for steelhead out on the lake is the Dreamweaver Super Slim series either clean or pulled with a small dodger about 17 inches ahead of it.
