Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of what I should be looking for in land/houses around Lake Cumberland in Kentucky.

I have been boating for a couple years now and decided to set down routes in the Cumberland area and have just started to look at property, I was hoping that I could learn from those who have done it before me the tricks to finding a great lake house.

Hey, neighbor! I can't help you in the real estate area but I have been to Lake Cumberland many times and you're the man if you move down there. Very beautiful and nearly perfect for boating! I don't recall many private homes on the shore but then again, I was paying attention to the water not the land. I hope you get some good advice!

Lake Cumberland is nice, but have you been toward Land between the Lakes (LBL) its really nice there. Theres this place called "Fat Daddys" on the lake barkley in Dover, TN that has a floating bar with and a marina. It's been a while since I've been there 4 yrs or so, but we always had a good time there.

Re: Lake Cumberland

dytajb, I was at Lake Cumberland 15+ years ago and it was uncrowded and quite pristine. It was quite hot in August, however,(air 99F, water 95F), but if you stayed in the lake up to your neck and drank cold beer, you didn't sweat so much. I recently spoke to a neighbor who goes there reguarly. She indicated the lakefront is quite built-up, and is quite the zoo! She hates it now. FWIW.
