Can someone please help....I pulled a map of Cumberland Lake and there are sooooo many area to stay. I am looking for the most popular area where my wife and two boys of 11 and 12 years of age will have fun. I would also need information on any area hotel that are 'safe' and allow trailered boats. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Lake Cumberland Info........

Most popular places, Jamestown Resort and Marina, probally #1, Both Alligator Docks are great #4, Conley Bottom #2, State Dock and State Park #5, Burnside Marina #3, Halcomb Landing, Those for the most part are the bigger more resort type places. Just depends on what part of the lake you want to be on and which direction you are coming from. The side of the lake that's closest to the Dam is the more popular part of the lake. I like both ends, it just takes a long time to get from one end to the other, and then theres the River which is beatiful too! You will have a blast. Other than lake Powell or Meade I haven't seen a nicer lake.

WanabeBoater,<br />Wow Dale Hollow is almost nicer than Lake Cumberland I really like it there. The water is really clear, its a beatiful lake. Sulfer Creek Marina is a good one over there. It's a really big lake itself. I have some friends that live in Cincinnati and they go to General Burnside Island State park-606-561-4104: Its 174 miles from Cincinnati. Its a pretty nice place they have everything from cabins to hotels all around the area. I personally whould go to the Russel Springs-Jamestown Area which is about 175 miles from Cin. There you have Alligator 1 and Alligator 2 which both have all ammenities, also probally the nicest place on lake Jamestown Resort and Marina-270-343-5253, also the State Dock is right next to Jamestown's Dock, they also have all amenities, then right next to the state dock is the Lake Cumberland Resort State Park which is seperate from the state dock but they too have eveything and its really nice 270-343-3111. I could go on but I won't, Brunside is 50 miles from the dam, all those other marina's are about 10-20. The dam area too about Wolf Creek is probally the more popular area's, 76 falls, etc. That is the widest part of the lake and the deepest, but towards Burnside is really nice too, but gas sure is high. You could get lost anywhere on the lake so you won't have any trouble finding places where you are the only boat. There is also the KOA which is next to Alligator one and 2. They have good deals on Cabins to Campgrounds. I'm at Alligator 2, I really like the Wolf Creek Area but its all nice. Also all the places I've listed have ramps and slips that are covered.

If you get on the internet you will see a tremendous amount of information about Lake Cumberland and the surrounding area. We personally like both ends of the lake. Close to the dam is wider, generally has fewer logs, etc. Closer to Burnside is more cliffy, less crowded, etc. Cumberland is very big and has much to offer. Enjoy

Re: Lake Cumberland Info........

Its the beginning of the new year...Happy New Year to the iboats family. Have been to Lake Cumberland..and it is absolutley beautiful. We stayed at Lees Ford Marina, just to get an idea of what an exciting time we were in for. We found a swimming hole, with nice jumping cliffs on the east side of the lake. It also happened to be a party cove. I have heard there is another party cove on the Dam side of the lake and since we are going to give Jamestown Marina a try, I figured we would visit this party cove. Can someone direct me to this well known cove and if you have any areas in mind to where there are SAFE cliffs to jump from..that would be great. We love this lake so much...we are looking to purchase waterfront property. Thanks

The party cove on the dam end of the lake is Seventy Six Falls. Jumping from the cliffs is illegal per Corp of Engineers. We have tried to go once a year since getting our boat. We have stayed at Cumberland Point (near the middle of the lake) and at Burnside State Park. We camp, but I can't imagine any hotel in the lake area that would refuse trailered boat parking.
