Sad day. Drove over an hour to get to the lake to find it's closed due to a drowning. Very disappointed at not being able to boat on such a beautiful day, but even more saddened by the news. Stay safe out there!

It's at Beltzville Dam in western PA today. Don't know the details of how it happened or why.

Heard about that on the news yesterday ... Fisherman fell out of boat. No other details that I heard.

Is that the one near Leechburg?

No, I think you're thinking about Raystown Lake. Beltzville Dam is much smaller & up closer to Allentown.

It is a very small lake - around 1000 acres. Not many options for boating around southeast PA outside of the river. I was surprised the whole lake was closed too, but couldn't be too upset when I found out why. Very sad.

I was trying to find details and really couldn't find much. I was racking my brain trying to figure out how it could happen on such a small lake, but I guess it doesn't take much in the right circumstances.

All it takes is water that's deeper than you can stand in. It's awful that it happens so often.

When I go out alone I wear my auto-inflate PFD and the kill switch lanyard. It's a promise I made Linda that I've never broken.

Wow! Thats the lake I've been going to. Hoping to go out again this Saturday, hope it's open again...

Ya, we're supposed to go Sunday. I haven't found any useful news about it & I'm not sure who to call to find out if it's open.

Size of the water doesn't matter. We just had one here last Saturday. This lake is only 300 acres. This young man was only 27 years old.

Local paper shows search is called off, but park site shows closed? Last update was yesterday at 4pm though...
