eat more fish,

seen them on a trailer. asked about them and the guys said it was trouble free. It very bright. They are similar to the red led lights in the spoilers of cars. Very bright and intense red.

just go buy one from your marina or wal mart and hook it up to your battery. you'll see the difference, and if u dont like, then return it. -- well, that is a lot of trouble for some lights though.

its up to you.

Re: L.E.D Trailer lights

Take a good look at a few big rigs. They make LED replacements for the round 4 inch lights. They are MUCH brighter. The led is recognizable if you look close because it is a bunch of small lights.

I have been waiting 4 years for my trailer lights to crap out. They won't coooperate. About to put on LEDs anyway.

My reason is I normally drive with my lights on and the turn signals are virtually invisible during the daytime that way. Not good.

I need them to come out with the rectangle cause my trailer won't take the round lights. :(

They make a rectangle, or at least an oval. I was just using the big rigs as a place to observe the difference between led and incandescent. West Marine carries them for too much. lots of companies sell led stuff through internet companies. Do a search you will be surprised.

Piranha by Peterson MFG is made to go on boat trailers with rectangular lights.

Cabela's sells a set in their new spring 2002 catalog. $44.99 or so. A lot cheaper then the West marine brand... I'm gonna try them soon.

LED lights are suppose to be good for 100,000 hours, and are availabel in many different styles, and are made by most light mfgs. Trucklite,Grote,Peterson,Signalstat. Should be able to find a model you are looking for on one of their web sites.Brackets are also available to mount different styles.

For what it's worth I have just finished driving over 100km off road in 4x4 country through both dusty and wet land. I followed a Landrover Discovery much of the time. During this time I couldn't see the vehicle shape or normal driving lights in front of me because of the dust. I could see the LED lights he'd fitted to improve vision for the follower. He claimed he was very pleased with this. I agreed that they were the best lights I've ever followed. I'm sold. They're big & bright, his were a combination light.
Ross
