I have a alumacraft that my brother had stored for years. The carpet is torn to shreads and I like to fish salt water. I thought about sealing the aluminum with something white (paint or Kool seal) I wonder if anyone has any reccomendations?
Don

Give us a little more detail of the problem and you should get some answers

As far as cool seal. Throw that shxx away. Or at least keep it from anything of value.

Does the boat leak?

Ya may only need to tighten up some rivits.

U. Dave

There is no problem. I just want to get rid of the carpet and put something over the aluminum to protect it. I would like to have something down that is easy to wash.

Any liner will trap salt water underneath. Hate unbonded liners of any sort!

Add in sunshine and time, and you're building future problems.

Sort out a good protective paint so that there's a solid bond between it and the aluminum.

Try a paint that is used in chemical storage tanks like Imron. Make sure you are in a well ventilated area if you use Imron or you will kill all of your brain cells. May be that is what happened to me.

After researching, it looks like cool seal is definately a bad choice. I am going to treat the aluminum first, then primer and paint. Thanks for the quick posts. One day I will learn to read instructions??
