i baught the kodiak stainless steel brake kit ,they have come with the galvanized oil filled hubs.....they look like normal hubs but have a clear plastic insert with oil level that slides in place were the bearing buddies normally go,,,,,,,,,,,,im not realy fond of being a test monkey with these new style hubs ,,so i would like to pack the hubs with grease and use bearing buddies and not use the oil sealed end caps..........................anyone see a problem with this.

Re: kodiak oil filled hubs

well actualy they are sitting in a box and low on my list of to do things not to mention one of the rotors came in with three nicks on it so im having a replacement sent out ,,,,elija from ; http://www.etrailerpart.com/adddiscbrakes.htm ;has been great but the chick from kodiak doing the replacement is kinda spongy in the head....ill try and post some pics of the nicks ; ; ; i think the look great i enjoy knowing i baught the best i could find and once installed i wont have to mess around with them for over 6 years hopefully ,,,dosent look like there is any kind of finnish that will flake off as i belive all the components including the calipers were cast in stainless......the hubbs are kinda cool as they are galvanized hubs..... i know i couldnt make the rotors or hubs or brackets or calipers for 316 dollars alone so all those parts as a package for that much pluss saving on taxes has been great i think they are well worth the money spent ...im reduing my break system and seriously considered the cadium ...i like the added 1/2 inch of surface area i got with the 2 part rotor /hub also...

Re: kodiak oil filled hubs

why dont you give me your review of the tie downs as the reviews i read said evryone who purchased them ended up replacing them as they were to weak in one way or another .......these kodiak calipers seem beefy i realy like the calipers and i feel that and the beefy rotors and the galvanized hub and the stainless brackets all lent to my purchasing choice ......i just had my trailer sand blasted and painted with some zink primer then painted with some interlux perfection blue ,,,new sliders and diamond plate fenders and used stainless fasteners throughout...led's for lighting and shes coming to gether ,,,,now im focasing on my little 18 1/2 foot bowridder...who getting her transome done by me these next few weeks and then will be getting her stringers done ,,,and hopefully picking up speed on the project..

Re: kodiak oil filled hubs

I would consider trying the Kodiak hubs with 90 wt oil first. Since they are new and Kodiak is a high quality setup, gear lube offers benefits that grease cannot. It will be easy to see if the lube oil becomes contaminated with water. Easy the flush and refill if necasary. Lube oil hubs run cooler and less rolling resistance. Bearing can last much longer with no maintinance. Just make sure the spindle seal area is in good shape.<br /> If the hubs do not work out, you can always go to grease and bearing buddys later.
