I have a 2002 Honda four stoke 225 HP, 30 inch shaft on a bracket, on a 26 foot Goldline open fisherman, boat weighs 6000 lbs on a fishing trip more on the way in, all the time. At full throttle my four blade, stainless, 17 inch prop without trimming the engine up tachs at 5,000 rpms, trimmed out I can get 5,300 rpms. In a following sea the motor seems to get hung in the wave and I loose rpm"s. I can get stuck going 4,500 and drop to 2500 without touching the throttle, in calm waters no problem maintaining the desired rpm's. My question is does anyone know what the motor is suppose to tach out at since I bought this second hand I have no idea of the rpm's it is suppsoe to top out at, I can only compare it to my old 2 stoke experience, I had a four blade prop on that also, it is the same prop. It has a new hub in it and is not spun.

Re: Know the RPM's ????

According to the Honda owners manual "Full Throttle Range" should be 5000-6000 RPM's. Hope this helps.
