Re: KING FISHING ( A NEW START)

BM,<br />While bottom fishing, drift a weightless ribbon fish, cigar minnow, live bait, etc all with steel leader of course and let the current take the bait away from you. Put the rods in the holders with light drags/clickers on, and continue bottom fishing. Depending on the current, you may add weight to some to keep them at different depths. If there are kings around, you'll catch em. If trolling, try a Russel lure or 7" rapalla's and troll near structure at 3-7 knots. These fish eat most anything and are not difficult to catch. Once caught you have to find out what to do with them, personally I'd keep the snapper and grouper your catching on the bottom and give away most of the king (it's not that tasty and large ones may contain high levels of Mercury). If you do keep some smaller ones, I bleed them by cutting the gills (tends to lighten the flesh up a bit but are still oily). Best of luck to you on catching some "smokers".
