my outdrive will not come out of gear when the engine is running. Have changed cables to the engine and shift cable to the outdrive.Idle rpm 800

You are going to have to post a picture or model number. Some King Cobra's have cone clutches and some have dog clutches.

Bruce, the out drive # is MOD 983900 SER # T0004703 Also the lower unit has been serviced on a yearly bases (no water in the oil) the universal joints greased and in good condition. thanks for the come back
