This has the stop button on face of motor. My 1988 9.9 has it on end of tiller with the dead mans kill teather.More convenient to shut motor off in a hury.Being I can go much faster now can the teather kill switch be added somehow somewhere?
I added a kill switch on my 1976 40hp tiller motor. I spliced into the two kill wires just before the kill button on the motor and ran wires to the kill switch. Which i mounted to the tiller arm on the under side. I can now use the button or pull the lanyard to kill the motor. Many choices for sale right here at IBOATS.
Of course you can add other kill switches most anywhere you like. Like hardwater fisherman stated, just tap into the wires go to the stop switch on the front of the engine and parallel another kill switch where ever you want. If is that simple. Just make sure whatever switch you use is the exact same type stop switch on the front of the engine. What I mean is, if that stop switch shorts the ignition out when pushed, then you need a SPST normally open type switch. JMHO
