2005 8hp outboard. Very cleanm, runs great, just won't stop! Seriously, the stop switch doesn't stop the motor. Pushing the button, pulling the laniard - nuthin. I have to close a valve in the fuel line to kill it.

I cannot locate any disconnected wires under the engine cover, and there is no evidence of corrosion on the switch or elsewhere.

Any suggestions? Is it hard to replace the kill switch?

Kill switches are one of those items that needs to be changed once in a while as they die of internal corrosion, sputtered contacts, internal spring issues, etc. Just disconnect electrical wires, remove big switch nut that holds switch against engine lower cover, place new switch & nut and connect again all electrical wires, you're done. You can pull the choke all the way out to kill the engine too, faster than shutting gas valve and waiting to die of fuel starvation.
