I am trying to get a 1948 Kiekhaefer Mercury KE-4 up and running. It's been a fun learning project for my son and me. It hasn't started in about 15 years. I've cleaned it up, lubed all the moving pieces, fogged the cylinders, and am now inspecting the electronics. I’ve bought the KE-4 Part List from oldmercs.com and the "General Information - Tuneup & Service Hints" for Mercury models 1940-1965. After reading and looking a lot, I think I’m missing the breaker cam. With the flywheel off, when I rotate the crankshaft, nothing contacts the point assembly to create the gap. See attached pic. Am I missing something or is that the issue?

I've searched for breaker cam and can't find anything. Is it under Mercury ignition systems?

I got confused.----The clicking was on another website.---What ignition system is on your motor ?----Is the cam not part of the flywheel hub on your motor ?
