OMG, major score today on parts for the resto. Met this great guy a couple months ago who lives not to far from me, I had bought a boat trailer from him. His story is he buys up junk boats strips all the hardware, engines, trailers, etc. from them and resells it all. Well when I was there the first time I was just outside looking at the 14 trailers he had in the yard. Anyways jump ahead to today. I had placed a CL add looking for the steering linkage I need for my motor, and as fate would have it he contacted me. So today I went back over to his house and was allowed in the inner sanctum of the garage and barn. OMG!!!!! I could have spent hours and hours looking everything over in there. The rafters where filled with steering systems, control cables, motors, lower units, had these big stacker trays with any kind of hardware you can think of..... it was nothing short of amazing to me, I love stuff like that. I walked away with a set of control cables, the old OMC ends for them, brand new looking fuel line/bulb w/ connectors, and the linkage/mount piece and arm for my steering for $50. He saved me atleast $75 from what I was planning on spending for that stuff, probably more.

Oh and he is redoing a Starcraft Chief I think he said was the model. Wish I had my camera with me I would have taken some pictures. For the entrance to the cuddy area he made a big walk though circle all out of aluminum, looked pretty cool.

Dang a boat junkyard, gotta love it. The beauty of a junkyard is you don't know you need it until you see it.

I need to go to the auto junkyard and scavenge some electrical connectors for mine. I can't wait, there's still a few junkyards here you can walk around a pull off your own parts. My boy is gonna love this.

That's just too cool CBG, I can't believe with all the boaters and water access around here, that there's not something like that close to us :(

Don't take pix next time there...It's not nice to make grown men cry like that ;)

It wasnt a junkyard, it was his house. One of those, its really cool but Im sure glad I dont have to live next door to him. LOL

If there is anything you guys can think of that you'd need just shoot me a PM and I can give you his email address. Im not sure if its something small if he'd want to mess with it, but I could always pick something up and ship it out to ya. Id like to find out what flea market he takes his stuff too, that sounds like a good way to spend an afternoon to me.

LOL I think I've seen this guy's ads on craigslist...if it's the same guy he's got a mountain of boat gear:D

Do you think he has fuel connecters for early 70s mercury outboards?

I think I need to take a closer look at his inventory some day:)
