kicker set up

I want to hool my kicker up with cable controls for throttle and shift - I was given a set of cables and a control. Question is, do I have to take the tiller handle off for the throttle to work properly with a cable hook up?<br />thanks<br />bill

this depends mostly on what motor u plan to use as a kicker. i have a 1988 15horse that i hooked controls up to and i didnt have to remove the HANDLE, but i did have to remove the cable and innerds from it to use the new handle. it can be made possible. alot of people will tell you to go to the dealer to get the remote hookup kits, but this is pricey..... <br />what motor is it
