Well any 80's JohnnyRude 8 HP would work just fine for that setup unless your in the ocean and it would fish just fine there two, but...if you have to buy new and you want the 9.9 then I'd say Merc is the way to go.I’m looking for a 9.9HP auxiliary outboard for my 19’ fiberglass REGAL open bow. That’s so I don’t have to keep using my 4.3L for trolling. Merc. - Yamaha - Honda - other. 25” shaft no used one’s out there have to purchase brand new![]()
I did that on my Carver.Nothing like having to carry a Portable Tank along if it is a 2 stroke. Maybe with a 4 Stroke Kicker, you could tap into the Boats Fuel line
Isn't the 9.9 Merc made by Tohatsu in Korea?Well any 80's JohnnyRude 8 HP would work just fine for that setup unless your in the ocean and it would fish just fine there two, but...if you have to buy new and you want the 9.9 then I'd say Merc is the way to go.
American, new and matches you big motor.
Should be an easy pick.
My little kicker runs about 8 hrs ( all day) on a gallon of gas. Plenty of places for a one gallon fuel can. Better than the added weight and expense of a new four stroke, at least for me.Nothing like having to carry a Portable Tank along if it is a 2 stroke. So...does your combo become a "Mercrude".... lol...nothing like a Merc kicker !

Yep, a little 2.2 hp Merc, made by Tohotso. Great little motor. Always starts on 2-3 pull, even after sitting all winter. Fast idle (1/3 throttle) gets about 2 mph for trolling, just enough rpm to eliminate any vibration.Must be a 2hp
