I am considering getting a kicker for my Capri 1952. I have a non adjustable bracket similar to the ones I saw installed on some of the boats I saw online. Bacause of the contour of the transom, there is only one spot hightwise where this bracked can be installed. I am wondering what shaft length would work for this setup. If I get a long shaft (or extra long) will it drag in the water? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

A kicker is not going to plane out the boat and should be lifter/tilted when not in use. A 9.9 will work fine and you should get a regular long shaft. Get one that uses the same fuel as your regular motor. i.e. if you have an outboard that requires pre-mix then get a two stroke.....if you have an IO then get a 4 stroke.

The prop and water pick up just need to be in the water. You can also tie it into your regular steering too.
