just purchased a 5hp merc for trolling and a back up (lots of current where i fish) its on a 15ft sylvan lodge. the dealer where purchased recommended that i break it in at 50 to 1 ratio if i wanted to start trolling right away as long as i stayed away from WOT and vary rpms as opposed to 25 to 1 and buzz it around and waste alot of time breaking it in the normal way. would appreciate second opinions on this. my first posting and definitly not the last.
