When starting the engine, starts fine but if I don't immediately move the throttle to forward the engine will try to start itself. Throttle will move but engine stays in low rpms. Any ideas of where to start? Key switch or throttle control? I'm on vacation in the keys😁

Moved this a thread of your own. Take a look at the Help Tip on top of the page.

Your key switch is either not returning to the "run" position from "start" or it's shorted internally. When the motor is off and the control in neutral, does turning the key to "run" cause the starter to engage? With the kill switch lanyard pulled, if you quickly turn the key to "start" and back to "run", does the starter continue to run?

how can the motor be trying to start itself if it is already started?
Posting what motor you are dealing with may help too

I think he is trying to say the starter continues to run when the key is released. This may be an ignition switch problem but from the rather poor description, I'd say the Bendix on the starter is hanging up and therefore the starter is being spun at very high rpm by the now running engine. Take the cover off the engine and see what is going on when this happens. Pay attention to the starter.
