Keel Repair

I am looking for advice on how to fix the keel from 1st time boat loading. All three keel rollers are frozen and was told that, by some that does not matter the boat will slide along them. At first I had trailer to deep so I pulled the truck forward some and fueled up throttle a bit and the boat went on the trailer. The keel contacted the keel roller closest to the A frame and forced it to rotate but left the keel scored. No apparent splintering but their are some pin holes and one place to where one fiber is bearleypulled away probably about a 64th of an inch. Can this be covered by a bow guard, or does it need further attention. 1st time boat owner and new to learning about this kind of repair open to suggestions. Thanks Chris

I doubt that the rollers did this damage.------Did you inspect boat before this event happened ?

Looking at your rollers - it's time to replace. I doubt the roller itself did the damage BUT if its split enough, the roller shaft might of contributed to that.

Given the small amount of damage and where it is, I'd look at a gelcoat repair kit and get close to matching it - doesn't need to be perfect as only the fish are going to see it and they ain't that picky. Keel guard if you're gonna be beaching the boat alot wouldn't hurt.

That's a keel roller? Looks like someone painted them. Painted rubber?

Someone spray bombed the trailer without the boat on it. Probably a quick job when they were on vacation and didn't know better/didn't bother removing/taping off the rollers.

Even the hardware is painted which leads me to that conclusion.

Bet if you popped the brackets off you'd find the original paint and the brackets would be bare where they were blocked by the frame members.
