Nascar said "Oops". after overreacting. SHR says he's in for Phoenix.

I'm not sure how I feel about it............. On the fence........

"Busch still must comply with guidelines set by Family Court Commissioner David Jones, who granted the no-contact order for Driscoll that led to his Feb. 20 suspension. Jones wrote in his opinion that he believed there's real possibility Busch will lash out again and has a propensity to lose control in response to disappointing or frustrating situations involving racing.
Jones ordered Busch to be evaluated to see if there is a "treatable mental health condition." He also said Busch must follow any suggested treatment plans."

KB is appealing Jones ruling.....

From Nascar;

The decision to lift the suspension was made by NASCAR after Kurt Busch:
• Complied with all requirements in its reinstatement program;
• Completed the mandatory behavioral assessment sessions; and
• The behavioral health care expert who conducted the sessions recommended to NASCAR that Kurt Busch be allowed to return to competition.

I guess he finished writing "I will not be a bad boy anymore." 100 times on the blackboard with no misspellings, proper punctuation and all the I's dotted and T's crossed.

This was a bungle by Nascar. I have no idea what happened between Busch and Driscoll, but Nascar should have waited until the protection hearing matter was fully resolved before acting. I don't have a problem with the two parties staying apart by court order, but with no charges filed, Nascar's we'll do better than the NFL effort fell on it's face.

He's a hothead and Gene Haas is the one to handle it with his pocketbook since he is the one one paying the freight for the team with no sponsorship and none on the horizon. Penske didn't put up with him.

Completed "all" the reinstatement program requirements. I agree about blackboard. Nobody has completed that program so quickly. After listening to NASCAR radio, It almost seems the requirements can be different depending on the situation.... idk

I thought a court/panel/judge(I forget) deemed that it was more likely than not Kurt did something and that's when he was ousted. I could be wrong... from NASCAR. Didn't Chevy cut all ties with him?

It was a family court commissioner that made that determination, not really one with the full authority of law behind him and as the "opinion" and the No Contact order is being appealed, it could be found completely baseless. The prosecuting attorney declining to prosecute was the nail in the coffin, based on my experience in the past(and yes the military is not quite the same) I have an idea that the No Contact order will be lifted. NASCAR jumped the gun and I suspect Kurt has not completed much of his road to redemption requirements. He might have been interviewed a time or two and the person supervising said he didn't need treatment or something to that effect. One thing many of us do as we age, our tempers come under much better control, from what I have seen from him in the last year, I think a lot has transpired behind the scenes on him getting his emotions in better control. Time will tell and as stated, right now it is up to Haas to foot the bill. I don't believe he would waste his money on something that is not a sure thing, car owners spend lots of money, but not often do they waste it.

The one thing that will hang over KBs head for quite some time is, indefinite probation. We'll see how long it takes him to break his probation.....

I hope he won't, up until this mess, I don't remember him getting in trouble for a while now. Of course I have had dealings with a lot of guys and gals, that really had problems when they were younger, but I was always willing to work with them to improve on those situations(It is amazing, what being an officer in the Army requires you to do!) In most cases, I was not disappointed in the fact that I worked with them and most of them have turned out pretty good, I did have some that still went off the reservation and ended up with pretty stiff time in the brig, but for the most part they tried to get better with their relationships and succeeded.

A family court commissioner who seems to enjoy the limelight. He took a procedure that normally takes a half hour to an hour and stretched it for almost 4 months of highly publicized hearings. In the end his considered judgement was, "it seems more likely than not..." Seems there might be a shadow of a doubt there. My understanding is that the vast majority of requests for No Contact orders are granted with relatively little fanfare.

NASCAR did jump the gun although I kind of understand it following all the NFL drama. They did not want to get "Goodelled". Tried to look like the good guys and wound up looking dumb when the had to back pedal. I DO, however, give them credit for recognizing their mistake and back pedaling in a timely fashion.

Kurt has a well-earned rep for bad behavior but all of it that I know about has been on track, one way or another. I don't like the guy and will not likely ever be a fan, but I hope he recovers from this mess. Advice to Kurt: if they have crazy eyes, they're probably crazy.
