I have two kawasaki js550 standups one is 1982 and the other is a 1985. The 1982 jetski has a thin hull(if you shine a flashlight through at night you can see the glow) In these years they did not use fiberglass but a plastic type material. I was wanting to re-work the bottom of the jetski giving it more of a sharp chine than the rounded back it has now. My question is can I use fiberglass material on this type of hull? :p

Re: kawasaki js550's

i have been sucessfull in repairing those hulls with fiberglass but you must remove all the paint as they do not use gellcoat and their paint will not hold to the glass,You may be getting in over your head as glass work is not easy and it requires a lot of special tools and expertise. I have re designed a few boats and repaired several damaged hulls in jet skis and I would give you this advice If you do not know glass work do not do it . not to mention even at wholesale prices it will be expensive for the materials alone.
