I have a 99 kawasaki stx 1100 and yesterday while flushing it I found the #1 cylinder was very hot. You really didn't even want to touch it on the side of it. But the other two were ok. One jet ski mechanic tells me that on that ski it doesn't cool well with the hose like it does in water. And yes, it does get very hot. The kawasaki dealership here in Albuquerque, told me that he has ski's in the shop he can put his hand on all day long. And that shouldn't be getting so hot while flushing. Who's right? This is my first post.

No it shouldnt be getting that hot. especially if youre jsut flushing it. Are you revving the hell out of it when youre flushing it? You dont need to do that if you are. If not you may have detonation or pre ignition on that cylinder. Pull the plug out and see if you have any alluminum/metal shavings on the tip of the plug. if you do you may have eroded the crown of the piston and its gonna go out on you. Check your compression on the cylinders. the compression should be pretty close between the cylinders. if it was a misfire the cylinder would be running cooler not hotter. You also may not have enough fuel going to that cylinder so its runing lean and lean is hot.
It coudl be a fuel issue on the #1. Without seeing or hearing it these are the things to look at

Re: kawasaki cylinder hot

the question is does it get hot when it is in the water if not you may just have a water flow issue when on the hose, crimp off the exit hose when flushing the engine and see if it runs cooler you may be blowing the water right out the back of the ski on the hose.. if it is hot in the water you may need to pull the head and see if there is sand in the water jacket around that cylinder.
