I have a 2000 Kawasaki 1100 stx di, last weekend it was running fine, then I went through a no wake zone and then it started running very poorly like the spark plugs went bad. I checked the plugs and they were black so I replaced them, I took it back out for only a couple minutes to test it and it was still running bad, when I check the new plugs again, 2 of them were black.

Anyone have any thoughts on what might be wrong?

Sounds like something is causing it to run too rich.

Sounds to me like youre not getting spark on one of the plugs since you had 3 that were black and then when you changed them you only had two that were black. Take off the spark plug cap and trim off a little bit of the plug wire then reattach the cap. the cap shoudl screw into the wire end

I have the same machine. Can't offer you suggestions, but if you find that you need a new engine or want to sell your boat, let me know. I have a brand new engine installed in mine, then the hull failed and is not repairable. I am willing to sell my engine or else buy your hull. I am in the MD area.

have you checked the exhaust system for leaks and on kawasaki the plug wires are notorious for going bad so try trimming off a little where the plug boots are,.
